Cargolux has been a valued operator at YYC for over 20 years, specializing in the transport of heavy and oversized cargo. With recent changes in the air cargo ground handling landscape at YYC, EFC Aviation was approached by both Cargolux and the Calgary Airport Authority to take on this critical role.
“We are excited to partner with Cargolux and grateful for the support from the Calgary Airport Authority,” said Ryan Albizzati, Chief Executive Officer of EFC Aviation. “This agreement reflects our commitment to bringing trusted and efficient ground handling expertise and supporting the long-term growth of air cargo operations at YYC. We also look forward to expanding our wide and narrowbody handling services to support other carriers seeking reliable, high-quality ground handling in Calgary.
To support this new operation, EFC Aviation has made strategic investments in specialized ground support equipment (GSE) tailored for both widebody and narrowbody freighter aircraft, ensuring safe and efficient cargo handling capabilities, making EFC the only cargo ground handler at YYC capable of handling heavy and oversized cargo.
Cargolux also expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership. “We are pleased to begin this new chapter with Executive Flight Center Aviation,” said Piergiorgio Curci, Vice-President, The Americas, at Cargolux Airlines. “EFC’s operational expertise, and commitment to service excellence make them an ideal partner to support our Calgary operations. We look forward to working together to ensure seamless air cargo handling and continued service reliability for our customers in this region.”
The Calgary Airport Authority echoed this support. “Executive Flight Center Aviation has demonstrated the expertise and commitment needed to support YYC air cargo operations,” said Balazs Bogats, Chief Commercial Officer at Calgary Airports. “YYC Calgary International Airport is a strategically situated central hub with the infrastructure, capacity and connectivity to meet the growing demands of global commerce. We look forward to working closely with EFC to ensure air cargo operations run smoothly, with the infrastructure for oversized and out of gage cargo, all while strengthening Calgary’s position as a key logistics hub.”
The agreement with Cargolux represents a long-term partnership with renewal options, reinforcing a shared commitment to operational excellence and sustainable cargo growth at YYC.
